This gauntlet was powerful enough to give an ordinary person the power needed to fight a wizard. In the hands of a wizard, such as Sarott, it would greatly increase their power.
At the beginning of City of Evil, the gauntlet was owned by Gorn who used it's power for peaceful purposes. But after Sarott found the City of Thieves, he realized he needed an external power source to amplify his abilities and took some (still miniaturized) people from the city to help him take the gauntlet from Gorn. After the city was restored, a pitched battle broke out and eventually Thundarr destroyed the gauntlet, which caused the City of Thieves' destruction too.
